tomorrow. really, a weekend looks good and we'll see clouds out of it and the temperatures stay warm right on through. we'll have the potential for rain and thunderstorms sunday night and monday and lingering into tuesday. we'll talk about that and the forecast looks like this. temperatures in the 40s and starting out at 72 degrees or so and low 70s areawide and overnight lows around 40 degrees and we'll have the forecast in a minute. >> the maryland terps closeout round one of the ncaa tournament in thrilling fashion and the sports director recaps the action. >> reporter: good morning, it was a final game to tip off in the first round. would the terps be weary or maybe a case for saving the best for last. the latter would be better. gary williams and taking on the

michigan state saw the big lead drainable -- dwindle and they won 70-67. it will be maryland and michigan state in round two tomorrow, you can see the action on wjz-13. tipoff at 2:30. more began -- morgan state also took to the court and with a different result. >> well, it's the different counterfeit bust in maryland's history. there was a large stash smuggled into the port and detectives think that thieves were making millions doing it. >> reporter: this is just one of the shipping containers -- it was filled with a million dollars in fake goods, shoes, pins, bags, watches and illegal

copies of of nike and several items. >> this was organized crime on a grand scale. >> the feds say that the counterfeiters undercovered the under cover ice agents to deliver the items to new york and new jersey and sell them on the streets. they payed a fee into a legitimate business. >> reporter: the feds learned they were distributing counterfeit viagra. >> the future of this case was counterfeit pharmaceuticals. that's something no one should put in their body. >> reporter: they all face decades in prison. this is the largest case of its kind for ice in baltimore and

the state of maryland. >> reporter: the police say that the group tried to clear customs without paying import duties. >> millions were made by crooks and millions were lost by legitimate u.s. companies. >> reporter: just an illustration of the money, the smuggling fees paid to the agents were cash. one was $50,000. reporting from the federal courthouse. thank you, mike. so far, a maryland grand jury indicted nine connected to the crime. a baltimore boy is charged with first degree murder. he's accused of shooting and killing a 29-year-old. the body was found earlier this month and the prosecutors say he called the girlfriend and that's how they were able to

link him to the crime. >> i don't know the motive, obviously, a senseless crime, a man lost his life probably for a reason, not worthying about. it's just a sad situation. >> meanwhile, he faces armed robbery charges and he's held without bail. >> two years and still no closer for one woman. she's continuing to search for her son's killer after he was shot in a fire house. weijia jiang has more. >> reporter: good morning, he was murdered two years ago and the sheriff's office has conducted 150interviews. he would have been 24 this week invite stead, family and friends remembered his life. the graduate was shot and

killed at the joppa fire haul during a private party. >> i couldn't believe it. >> reporter: the police have yet to charge a trigger man. >> it's rough, day by day, we deal with it minute by minute. >> my thought patterns is about him. >> reporter: nearly a hundred part-time were inside the fire haul that was rented out and despite the number of eyewitness news accounts, no leads were found. i'll go to work and tears stream down my face. >> it's still a side of me that's not satisfied. i'm angry. >> reporter: the sheriff's office recently pinned these flyers over the county with hopes that someone will come forward. >> we can't function on here say, we need information.

>> also, people plead for help, desperate for answers. >> we're hurting. we need closier. >> it's hard to come forward in a society that says snitching isn't good, but if you're a true human being, you would come forward. >> reporter: there's a reward up to $2000 for any information that leads to a conviction. thank you, weijia jiang. >> anyone with information should give the police a call. the evidence used against mayor dixon is going from the courtroom to the classroom. susan gillette used her own money to buy one of dixon's coats on ebay. it was $1700 she says she'll use the jacket during ethics

training classes. morgan state university wasn't able to duplicate the success of the terrapins. it turns out to be short lived. the west virginia fast break is part of an overwhelming rally ending the season for morgan state university. last year, they were knocked out and this year, it's barely better. to be honest, they played a good game and we department play too well. we didn't get that many open looks. >> it was an emotional end to reggie holmes. he is the all time leading scorer of the school. >> here's a look at the standings in the xfinity bracket challenge. well, i'm here and lost one.

temperatures into the end of winter and we'll carry it on in. we have a front and even with the front having turned a corner, we're not getting knocked back into cold and uncomfortable temperatures. it will come by and the end result is really it takes us back to closer to average. the average high this time of the year is 55 degrees and the overnight low, 35. we're so far above that, it will bring us rain. and high pressure is still in control for at least another day or so and we'll start to deteriorate into sunday night. we talked about spring springing and it would be here at 1:32 and it's running out of time, the season begins here very soon. 42 degrees at the airport and 76% humidity and the west, northwest wind at 3 miles per

hour and we have 30 in oakland and 44 in cumberland and 51 on the shore and chilly on the water's edge and the bay around 45 degrees and it stakes it longer for cities along the water's edge to heat up with the chill in the water. and the winds are calm and it's a delightful day. we've hit the low 70s for the last few days and we're going back into that again. we're dumping snow in the rockies and the leading edge, we're seeing rain filtering into wisconsin and minneapolis and it's going to move into the warmer temperatures. we expect to see the potential for thunderstorms with some of the mixing of the air late sunday and monday. it lingers into tuesday. while this is going to take a while to get here, it will take

it's a gorgeous day and we're ending winter and starting spring, we'll say that the season is coming in on a warm note. we'll look at the forecast, it's nice today and taking a look at the graphic. however, you want to phrase it, we'll be in the 70s today. not looking for rain until storm. the forecast today, 74 and warm and sunshine. overnight lows around 46 degrees and that's mild. that's about 12 degrees above the normal and 72 tomorrow and partly sunny and remaining warm. the five-day forecast in a few moments. police say that the 8-year- old boy who's body washed ashore in seattle thursday night accidentally drowned. that's the ruling. he was missing with his mother for about a week now and his mom is still missing. sunday, her minivan was found near a beach. they're not sure how the sand ended up in the water.

no, she didn't do this, she loved her son too much. it was -- it was someone grabbed a hold of her. >> a powerful current carried the boy's body several miles. they were on a tripe to see relatives. a three day strike began overseas and british airways is struggling to get its planes in the air. this is forcing the airways to leave the planes and crew members from other airlines. when it comes to organic foods, don't believe all you see. they're not doing enough to verify foods marked as organic. they're not doing enough to meet the standards.

here's the five-day forecast and the drive to work on monday may be damp. 66 degrees and 54, and 62 and 60 for tuesday, wednesday and thursday and overnight lows still in the 30s and 52 degrees sunday night. well, it's been a part of the skyline for a century and the hands on the clock of the tower are in need of heavy repair. ron matzs has more. from street level to rooftop. the tower stands 288 feet high and the hands of the clock on the southside of this building haven't been working. several years ago, we did the restoration of the building and at that time, we found that the

clock was getting stuck. >> this is the high flying window washer turned clock repairman. he's hanging 180 feet in the air, his job, to bring back the hands of time. it's windy in the swing stage, it swung a lot, i had to keep myself level. >> it was built in 1911 by the maker of the famous headache remedy -- until 1923, it was the tallest building in the area. >> it's an icon and a piece of history. >> now, many artists call the tower home. >> every month we have an open studio day. you can come in and see the artist and browse the tower as well. >> each hand is made of wood and steel. >> we'll come back out in two to three weeks and put them back up and we'll be back together and running nice and smoothly.

the crimestoppers continue to offer a $2000 reward for anyone with any information. in baltimore, the police file charges against a 14-year- old for shooting a 29-year-old. detectives say he used his victim's cell phone. and get your preakness on. we're learning about what will be the biggest attractions other than the horses. zach brown band and o.a.r.. it's may 15th. president obama is planning a trip to capitol hill to push the health care reform over the finish line. he'll meet with the democrats aid head of a vote slated for tomorrow.

it's not clear if the president has the votes. this morning, kelly mcpherson has more. >> reporter: this bill would extend coverage to 32 million americans and we spoke to marylanders who are paying for the insurance and they have a lot to say about the vote. >> this new bill isn't like the old one. it's actually worse. >> i'll be voting yes. >> reporter: the rep marylanders want to be heard. >> i went last month and it was $700! i don't see how anyone can justify paying 700-dollar worth of charges on top of the fact i'm paying $300 a month for premiums. >> reporter: in another neighborhood, she couldn't find a plan for taking a prescription for a fairly

common illness. >> i have a preexiting disease because of gerd. i think that's silly, everyone has acid reflux. >> reporter: she says each issue should be addressed separately. >> by giving someone the preventative medicine -- i would rather not deal with cancer from later on. >> reporter: there are better things like tort reform that would lower the cost of health care and make it more accessible to folks. >> reporter: even those who support the reform worry about the end results. >> i hope they can make it so the people understand about the benefits and make it user

friendly, but the way the government programs are, i don't have hope. >> reporter: this would cost $940 billion over the next ten years and they'll plan on having meetings saturday with those in congress still on the fence about whether or not to pass the bill. reporting downtown baltimore, kelly mcpherson, wjz eyewitness news. thank you, kelly, every republican is voting against it and some democrats will vote against it because it's not tough enough on abortion. a federal judge threw out a settlement for thousands of police officers and firefighters complaining of illnesses from 9/11. they said that the settlement wasn't enough and reaction was mixed. >> i'm disappointed that the

judge made it more difficult if not impossible for the people to obtain fair, timely and just compensation. >> this is a good day for you? definitely. >> you'll have to wait longer. >> that's okay, it's appropriate. >> and meanwhile, the judge said that the workers wouldn't get enough money and the lawyers would make a huge payday. in north dakota, all eyes are on the red river as it's rising above the flood stage. for thousands driving, it was a challenge. take a look at this time lapsed video and in some places, it rose 28 feet. the river will crest tomorrow. and back here, one of the most used exists downtown is closed today. this ramp has been closed off on the northbound i-95 side for a few weeks now.

and 42 at bwi and 51 in ocean city. calm readings around the state and a light breeze around the rest. we talked about snow in the dakotas and iowa, this is the system that's bringing it around the midwest. you see a transition when it moves into the warmer air towards minneapolis and you'll see the rain mixing in with it. the front will get here late sunday night and we'll see the cooler air and the warmer air mixing and creating thunderstorms. it's taking a while to get here and it won't ease off quickly. it's taken a while for the high to get here. we'll see more cloud cover late

a beautiful spring day is shaping up. welcome back, it's 42 degrees and almost sunny outside. well, it's a ride through new york city that one cab driver will not forget. that's because it ended with a gun drawn to his head and bite marks on his body. the man got into the cab and threatened to kill him if he didn't turn over money and a fight began and the passenger began biting the driver. >> he's biting me? >> [ indiscernible ] >> well, the passenger escaped without money and the police are looking for him. he's gone back to work already. and more answers are being sought into the bankruptcy. christopher dodd is wanting to learn more about lehman brother's.
